Hamid Guerna, owner of Le Sacre Bleu

The Owner

An ex professional DJ, Hamid Guerna is a highly experienced chef and restaurateur, who has owned restaurants and run small and large catering establishments for many years. He has enjoyed considerable success and during his time in London his clients included the Spice Girls and other stars. In his restaurant Hamid became “chef to the stars”, organising parties and dinner parties for a wide variety of music, film and TV personalities. Evidence of this illustrious past can be seen on the walls of the downstairs bar in Le Sacre Bleu.

Hamid made a lifestyle decision and decided to move away from London to Northampton, and he opened Le Sacre Bleu at 43 Gold Street to cater for normal people who wanted good French food and a wide range of wines, all served in a relaxed but professional environment.

"My aim is to carry on organising peoples' parties as best I can. I really enjoy giving people more than they expect and seeing them having fun, that's what I'm really good at, I think..."
Hamid

The Restaurant

Le Sacre Bleu stands out not just for the quality of the food and wine, but because it is unusual in that it boasts a food drink and music license until 3am, and Hamid has been able to utilise the uniqueness of the site to deliver a fantastic and varied dining experience.

Downstairs, the bar is very cosy and lively with great music where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink - or two!! Upstairs the restaurant has a vaulted timber roof and creates an intimate and relaxed ambience in which to enjoy some spectacular food from the extensive al a Carte menu. There is a good mix of fish and meat – not to forget the vegetarians amongst us – and some Le Sacre Bleu specials that are real favourites.

A permanent marquee where smoking is permitted has been erected in the rear courtyard and during the winter months, the sides can be closed and the marquee heated to provide a great area for private parties and late night music and dancing.  Hamid has developed a wide range of live music with weekly jazz nights and weekly jam sessions featuring a host of talented musicians. The music events start at 10pm and go on to the early hours, and you can either come along to the music only – with drinks served from the downstairs bar, or anyone dining in the restaurant is welcome to end the evening dancing the night away.

In the summer, the sides come off the marquee to make a fabulous open terrace for lunch and dinner as well as the late night music events. A full menu is served from the restaurant, but on many occasions Hamid gets the barbeque going to serve delicious food that gives a real summer feel to the evening.

Gold Street is right in the centre of Northampton and close to the Royal & Derngate Theatre. Le Sacre Bleu is the nominated restaurant for the theatre and a pre theatre menu is available. There is some parking outside in Gold Street, but there are a variety of car parks within a few minutes walk.
